Santa Fe Fashion Week, now in its 8th season, has always depended on the support from the community. Stephen Cuomo, Santa Fe Fashion Week’s Executive Producer, has recently expanded the concept of community support by launching a crowdfunding campaign via Indiegogo. I asked Stephen why he chose to go this route.

“I believe we live in a time where it is all about community, we belong to a Facebook community, a LinkedIn Community, a YouTube Community, an Indiegogo Community. I think reaching out to each community is an important and viable way to reach out, stay connected and relevant.”
Santa Fe Fashion Week’s Indiegogo campaign not only provides financial support but also taps into the “community and inclusion” spirit exhibited by American’s young designers.

“This campaign is important to me because I believe it’s important to support the next generation of American fashion designers,” Stephen said. “From young Native American college students, as well as designers that have appeared on Project Runway that are still working diligently to build their brand.”
America’s new designers are showing how fashion can bring people together. We all have an inherent need to belong and participate in our communities. A shared interest in what we wear and a curiosity for what new designers are producing can form a strong bond.
Santa Fe Fashion Week’s Indiegogo campaign is a way to enlarge and engage the community while offsetting some of the cost of hosting the event and insuring the continued support of emerging American designers. As Stephen says, is a great way to stay connected and relevant.
